Necessary Nothings

September 18, 2011

The morning was spent here, doing work.

Coffee Talk is an excellent coffee shop in the Kaimuki neighborhood. They have lots of drink choices, ranging from haupia lattes to fruit smoothies. I got a plain ol’ house coffee, which happened to be organic sumatra (delicious) with a splash of soy and a dash of cinnamon. They also have free internet, in-house baked goods, and a decent sandwich list.

After coffee and work, errands were run. Tim and I went to Sports Authority where I got some mid-run fuel source (more about that after it is consumed) and Whole Foods, where I saw this amazing mountain of beer.

Ask and ye shall receive. It seemed as if my wishes for pumpkin beer had magically been filled. I swiftly picked up a 6-pack, along with some wheat berries, bananas, chia seeds, and pizza.

Whole Foods does a 2-for-1 take and bake pizza on Sunday’s. 2 large spinach and garlic pizzas for $13, yes please! We added some mushrooms, sweet peppers, and zucchini, paired it with a salad, and called it dinner.

With dinner we cracked one of the Blue Moon Harvest Pumpkin Ales. The bottle says that it is “A pumpkin ale crafted with autumn’s bounty of vine-ripened pumpkin and flavors of cloves, allspice, and nutmeg. Then brewed wit ha touch of wheat for a smooth, lightly spiced finish.”My thoughts about this beer are not favorable, it tastes like any old Belgian Wheat beer. I got no flavor of pumpkin, cloves, allspice, or nutmeg. It was a major disappointment.

There is one thing about this evening that definitely did not disappoint…

These dark chocolate covered acai blueberries! They are amazing, and the perfect sweet treat to end a meal. I mean, you’ve got to get your antioxidants, right? Do yourself a favor and buy these a.s.a.p.

Well, another weekend comes to a close. I’ve got oats-on-the-go in the fridge and lunch packed and ready for school. I’ve got a class full of kids and a swimming date to look forward to.

Cheers to another work week and exciting exercise plans!
