Peaking

August 28, 2011

Today I reached my training peak in terms of miles, 14 of them to be exact. In 2:06:12, with an average pace of 9:00 min./mile.

It feels really great to be standing on top of the mountain with all of my hard work behind me and a race in the near future. I’ve put in the time and effort and should be well prepared for the Windward Half Marathon in 2 weeks, I am really looking forward to it.

About the run, it was a really pleasant morning, with intermittent drizzle which kept it nice and cool. I ran around the University of Hawaii campus, which is always beautiful, but especially calm and serene on an early Sunday morning. Then I went along the Ala Wai Blvd., to Kapiolani Park, around Diamond Head, and back up to my valley home. There were several refreshing water stops, an Emergen-C, and jelly beans. I made sure to keep my pace nice and slow to help me enjoy the entirety of the run, which was accomplished.

And now it’s smoothie time!

Papaya, jack fruit, banana, strawberries, blueberries, kale, cottage cheese, chia seeds, maca, stevia, and soy milk- delicious!

I’m not too sure what the day holds in store for me, maybe beach, maybe Greek festival?

What are you doing on this wonderful Sunday?
