A Toast to Friday II

August 26, 2011

Happy Aloha Friday everyone!

For those of you on the mainland fall is just around the corner. How do I know that? Because the stores are now carrying lots of autumn brown ales, that’s how!

The change in seasons that the continental U.S. experiences means little to me except a change in seasonal beers. Summer you get lots of light and refreshing pale ales, winter is flavored with hoppy and heavy dark brews, and spring…. I forgot, ask me next April.

Fall beer is characterized by nutty brown ales, which is a welcome brew to me. Sierra Nevada has recently come out with their seasonal autumn brown ale, so I was very excited to try it.

It is a medium body brew that is a nice amber color. It is equal parts crisp and dark, which is why I like brown ales as a whole, I feel like they are a happy medium between light pale ales and hoppy IPA’s. I would suggest you give this brew a sample, although it does not have anything super distinct about it as far as brown ales go.

You give it a try and tell me what you think!

What brews are you enjoying on this fine Friday evening?
